Backpack Stuffing and Distribution Events

Thanks to our generous donors, we were able to provide new backpacks and school supplies to over 200 students. Ensuring students start the school year off on a positive note, volunteers carefully filled pencils cases and stuffed the backpacks with notebooks, binders and folders and later distributed them at the Kid City Hope Place Family Resource Fair and Glen Alta Span School. #readytolearn

We are proud to be a Bombas Giving Partner and we were happy to provide each student with a brand new pair of socks.

Celebrating Mother’s Day at Aviva Family and Children’s Services’ Wallis House

Volunteers from various organizations and staff came together to celebrate an early Mother’s Day at Aviva Family and Children’s Services’ Wallis House. Wallis House provides supportive housing for women and children, meals and critical wraparound services to help lift up women and transition them out of homelessness. UpWorks for Good provided beauty kits for the mothers and encouraged creativity with fun art activities for the kids. Such a lovely day supporting mothers and children in Los Angeles.

School Supply Distribution at Sierra Vista Elementary School

It’s Back-to-School Time!

Many young students carry the burden of knowing their parents cannot provide all the basic school supplies required for school. Thanks to our generous donors and volunteers, UpWorks for Good will provide 250 school supply kits for students at a local LAUSD elementary school. Each carefully packed kit includes all the essentials to help students start the school year on a positive note!

Great day supporting Operation Gratitude! We helped assemble 6,000 Care Packages for First Responders in the Los Angeles area. These Care Packages are a way to express gratitude to all who serve.

Assembling Snack/Lunch Packs for the women at Downtown Women’s Center

Volunteers made sandwiches, wrote notes of inspiration and carefully filled each bag with ♥️♥️♥️. Each pack contained a sandwich, juice, apple sauce, crackers and trail mix. Snack/Lunch Packs are essential to the unhoused women served at the Downtown Women’s Center. These packs ensure that women have a nutritious meal to take with them before the Center closes for the day.

Los Angeles Regional Food Bank
What better way than to support the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank (LARFB) this holiday weekend. Over 80 volunteers from various organizations gathered to pack boxes filled with non-perishable food items to support the Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP). LARFB runs the largest CSFP program in the nation, providing food assistance for seniors on a fixed income in our community. Within a few hours volunteers completed 7,293 food kits. Literacy Fair at Mar Vista Family Center
It was a pleasure volunteering today at the Annual Literacy Fair Mar Vista Family Center (MVFC). Kids enjoyed free books, participated in reading circles and various arts/crafts projects. MVFC provides low-income families with quality early childhood education, youth enrichment, and educational tools to create positive change in their lives and their community.

Spring Eggs-perience Goodie Bag Stuffing!
It’s a wrap! Our volunteers wrote notes to encourage reading and assembled goodie bags filled with Ryan’s World mystery eggs, slime, goo and candy. They are sure to be a hit with the kids at the upcoming Literacy Fair at Mar Vista Family Center.

Felices Fiestas! Drive-thru Event at Para Los Niños
UpWorks for Good volunteers spent the afternoon supporting Para Los Niños at their Felices Fiestas! Drive-thru Event. Holiday Toy Distribution at Ninth Street Elementary School
Rise and shine! UpWorks for Good volunteers were up early this morning to load, deliver and distribute hundred of toys at Ninth Street Elementary School in LA’s Fashion District. The Ryan’s World T-shirts were a huge hit!

A big shout to our toy donors, volunteers and the staff at Ninth Street ES for making this happen! We loved seeing the joy in the children’s eyes.

Holiday Toy Bagging
Volunteering is a great way to get into the giving spirit! Thanks to the awesome teamwork of our volunteer crew, we bagged, tagged and attached bows to 600 holiday goodie bags this morning.

300 large goodie bags are headed over to the Felices Fiestas! Drive-thru event at Para Los Niños happening this coming Saturday to help support L.A.’s neediest children and families. 300 smaller bags will supplement a larger toy distribution slated for next week at Ninth Street and Allesandro Elementary School.

Snack and Hygiene Care Packs To-Go
UpWorks for Good volunteers assembled packs filled with much needed items and wrote notes of kindness to help get a struggling person through to tomorrow. These carefully packed kits will support homeless youth at My Friend’s Place.

My Friend's Place mission is to assist and inspire homeless youth to build self-sufficient lives. They serve 100-150 homeless youth a day. The Safe Haven Program provides daytime shelter and drop-in services offering food, clothing, showers and computer stations. Intake & Crisis Care, a Transformative Education Program and Health & Well-Being Programs are also offered. Programs are designed to help these youth move toward wellness, stability and self-sufficiency.

Providing PPE/Hygiene Home Care Bags at Aviva Family and Children’s Services
This morning, UpWorks for Good volunteers supported Aviva Family and Children’s Services at their Summer Drive-Thru Event in Lynwood.

For vulnerable children and families, Aviva is an unwavering beacon of hope. They believe every child and every family in their Los Angeles community deserve the chance for a brighter future. Aviva provides compassionate support, therapeutic services and guidance to at-risk children and families.

Aviva family members were provided with donated boxes of food, diapers, school and art supplies. Thanks to our generous supporters, UpWorks for Good was able to provide 100 PPE/Hygiene Home Care Bags filled with toilet paper, dish soap, household cleaner, laundry detergent, hand sanitizer, masks and more to help keep children and families safe during the pandemic.

Providing School Supplies for the Children at No Limits for Deaf Children
Thanks to our volunteers and our generous donors, we were able to provide 100 School Supply Kits for the summer program at No Limits for deaf children. No Limits is an amazing organization that teaches underserved deaf children the skills to succeed in school and life through its after-school educational centers and theater arts program.

Each kit was filled with a notebook, folders, pencil case, pencils, erasers, crayons, glue sticks, masks and yummy snacks! Volunteers also included handwritten positive messages on each ‘Kindness’ sticky note pad.

The past 15 months have been difficult for parents struggling to make ends meet. We hope these kits will help bring a little joy to these students and their families.

Last Drive-Thru Food Distribution at North Valley Caring Services for 2020
UpWorks for Good volunteers help support 870+ families during the last drive-thru food distribution of 2020 brought to the local community by a collaborative effort between North Valley Caring Services and Mend Poverty.

Holiday Toy and Sweet Bread Giveaway
Thanks to generous donations from our supporters, UpWorks for Good volunteers delivered a little holiday joy to over 150 children and their families.

We partnered with Mar Vista Family Center, located on the Westside of Los Angeles and brought a variety of fresh Mexican Sweet Breads for our guests and additional toys to help supplement their toy giveaway program.

Shout-out to Wil for rounding up the additional toys and to our volunteers who helped unload, display and hand out toys. Thanks to our recent donors there was plenty of bread to go around too.

Drive-Thru Food Distribution at North Valley Caring Services
Thank you volunteers! A small, but mighty team from UpWorks for Good helped kick-off our first group volunteer event at North Valley Caring Services, a nonprofit serving the residents of the Northeast SFV.

Thanks to donations from the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank and local neighborhood businesses, we, along with North Valley Caring Services volunteers,
were able to serve several hundred families in need during this crisis.
